A well-known leader in child development with experience directing three Santa Fe child care centers has taken the helm at Santa Fe Community College’s Kids Campus. The college has appointed Margaret “Maggie” Zenn director of the center. She brings with her more than 30 years of experience with children, the last 12 of which were in Santa Fe.
“This is a time of amazing growth at Kids Campus,” Zenn said. “The center has highly skilled staff and quality programs. I’m really just the conductor of the orchestra; the teachers make the music.”
Zenn started working with children in high school, when she opened an art school for preschoolers in her parents’ basement. She most recently directed St. John’s United Methodist Church’s TLC and Preschool. She directed the Tara School and was the founder/director of the Sage School. Zenn said that since beginning work at Kids Campus on July 30, “I wake up every morning with a smile on my face.”
Zenn first came to Santa Fe in 1980 from Kentucky to attend College of Santa Fe on a scholarship, but didn’t settle here until 1999. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities: Literature and Philosophy from the University of Louisville and a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education from the University of Phoenix.
