Valmadge Towner chosen to lead Coahoma Community College
Valmadge Towner of Marks has been named Coahoma Community College’s fifth president and will succeed Dr. Vivian Presley who is retiring June 30 following a 38-year association with the college.
The announcement is being made by Johnny McGlown, president of the CCC Board of Trustees following the board’s decision on campus Monday, April 8.
Dr. Towner, who is director of pupil services for the Desoto County School District, is an alumnus of Coahoma and a former trustee of the college.
“Dr. Towner is an outstanding administrator who has been closely associated with the college for many years; we look forward to welcoming him home as Coahoma’s new president,” commented McGlown.
Commenting on his selection, Dr. Towner said, “I am grateful to the board for its vote of confidence and feel excitement, eagerness, and a bit of consternation. However, I look forward to the challenges and opportunities of serving my alma mater.”
