Pamela Anglin named academic affairs VP at Blinn College

Blinn College has named Dr. Pamela Anglin, a 33-year veteran of higher education administration, its new vice president for Academic Affairs.

Anglin, who will begin her new duties Jan. 1, is currently president of Paris Junior College.

“Dr. Anglin is going to be an outstanding addition to Blinn College,” said Dr. Harold Nolte, district president. “She has a well-established record of strengthening academic excellence and her student-oriented style of leadership will aid Blinn as we build upon our momentum as one of the top community colleges in the nation.”

While at Paris, Anglin oversaw a 110 percent enrollment increase. She was executive vice president of Grayson County College from 1996-2003, where she served as the institution’s chief financial officer and developed a financing strategy for the college’s master plan.

She was Blinn’s vice president of business services from 1994-96, overseeing the College’s budgetary and fiscal administration responsibilities. During that time, she helped Blinn complete construction of its Bryan campus, renovate its residence halls and developed and taught a leadership course for students.

“I began working in community colleges because I wanted to make a difference in student lives and I believe community colleges are at the forefront of that effort,” Anglin said. “In all my decisions, I focus on what is best for our students and I’m excited to continue those efforts at Blinn College.”

Anglin has been a member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges Board of Trustees since 2008 and was on the American Association of Community Colleges Board of Directors from 2007-10. She has also served on the Texas Association of Community Colleges executive committee.

She earned her associate’s degree from Grayson County College before earning her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and her master’s from Texas Christian University. She earned her EdD in educational administration from Baylor University and studied at the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University.

Anglin replaces Dr. Debra LaCour, who retired in August after 25 years of service.
