Raymond Staats named president of Craven Community College
New Bern, N.C. – Craven Community College (CCC) Board of Trustees (BOT) has announced their recommendation of Dr. Raymond Staats as the new, and fifth, president of Craven Community College. The selection is pending approval by the State Board of Community Colleges.
“We are very pleased to announce that the Trustees unanimously agree that Dr. Staats is the best choice as Craven Community College’s fifth President. His broad experience and knowledge, his past successes and challenges, and most importantly his leadership vision and style, will serve us well as he leads an exceptional team of dedicated college educators and administrators into its future,” said Kevin Roberts, CCC Board of Trustees chair, who also led the Presidential Search Committee.
Dr. Staats currently serves as Operations Research Analyst for U.S. Army Cadet Command in Fort Knox, Ky. Dr. Staats received his Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va.
The board began its work in November 2014, following the announcement by Dr. Catherine Chew that she would retire in October 2015. A nine-member search committee was appointed by the board, and included members of the BOT, CCC faculty and administrative staff, and local industry leadership. Pending approval, it is expected that Dr. Staats will begin in his position as president on July 15, 2015.
