Hudson County Community College names Frank Mercado vice president for college operations

Hudson County Community College President Dr. Glen Gabert announced that Frank Mercado has been named Vice President for College Operations at the College.
“We are very proud to announce this appointment. Frank Mercado has worked closely with the College’s Board of Trustees and the administration in the recent developments of our Journal Square and North Hudson campuses. In his new role, he will be responsible for our facilities at both campuses. This will include the construction of the new North Hudson Center and the other buildings we will be reconstructing and renovating here in Journal Square. We are confident he will play an important role in the College’s continuing success,” said Dr. Gabert.
Frank Mercado has been employed at Hudson County Community College since 1997. He served as the Assistant to the Vice President for Finance & Administration Frank Crosby (who recently tendered his resignation) from 1997 to 2008. In August 2008, Mr. Mercado was named Assistant Vice President for Administration. His work at the College also included serving on a host of job-related committees that have been influential in the College’s physical development, including the Mater-Planning Steering, “Better Ideas,” President’s Executive, Technology, Architectural Planning Review, and Faculty & Staff Development Committees. Additionally. Mr. Mercado has served as the College’s liaison to the United Way of Hudson County.
Born and raised in Union City, Mr. Mercado holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Saint Peter’s College, and a master’s degree in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He also earned certifications from Rutgers University’s Center for Government Services and the New Jersey Academy for Leadership Training & Development.
Mr. Mercado is the Treasurer on the Board of Trustees for University Academy Charter High School in Jersey City, and a member of the St. Francis Academy Advisory Board in Union City as well as the Hoboken Elks Lodge 74. Mr. Mercado also served as President of Park Prestige Condo Association and as Manager of the Bogota Baseball Organization.
