The St. Johns River Community College district board of trustees recently appointed Mary Anne Laney as the dean of nursing. She brings to the college more than 20 years of experience in health care administration and 12 years in hands-on nursing care.
Prior to her new appointment, Laney worked as the program chair for the nursing and health careers at York Technical College in Rock Hill, S.C. During her tenure at York, she implemented and supervised more than eight allied health programs.
She holds a doctoral degree in educational administration from the University of South Carolina and a master's degree in nursing from Wayne State University.
Laney said that while a nurse's passion for caring for people remains unwavering, the nursing profession is continually progressing.
"SJRCC's nursing program and training facilities are one of the best in the state. I look forward to assisting the college and the program with succeeding in its future goals," she said.
