Danette Toone selected as president of Cloud County Community College in Kansas

The Board of Trustees of Cloud County Community College extended an offer to Dr. Danette Toone to become the institution's sixth president. The board voted unanimously to hire Dr. Toone, offering her a two-year contract beginning on July 1, 2010.
Dr. Toone joined Tuesday's meeting via phone to express her excitement at being hired as the first female president in the college's 44-year history.
“The faculty and staff are so student-centered – here and at Junction City,” she said. “That played a very big part in my decision to become a member of the Cloud County Community College family.”
Dr. Toone is currently the vice president of academic and community initiatives at Temple College, in Temple, Texas, where she has been since 1998. She received bachelor's degrees in finance and economics from Washburn University, and a masters degree in finance/management from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas. In 2009, she received a doctorate of education administration, community college leadership from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Toone grew up in Bavaria, Kan., and attended and graduated from Ell-Saline High School. Her mother currently lives in Assaria, Kan., and she has other relatives in the Salina, Kan., area as well.
