At the end of last spring semester, DiRionne Pollard left her position as president of Las Positas College to pursue the position of president and CEO of Montgomery College in Maryland.
In pursuit of finding LPC's next president, the LPC presidential search and screening committee launched a website with details about LPC, a profile of the president's position, application procedure, a timeline of the search and a list of who is on the search committee.
According to the website [http://www.clpccd.org/HR/PresidentialSearch.php], LPC is looking for someone who can "provide strong leadership and advocate for the college in a growing and changing community. The president must demonstrate a high degree of integrity, innovation and commitment to shared governance."
The profile is based off the information gathered from the open forums conducted by search consultant Pam Fisher of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) on Sept. 28.
According to the timeline on the website, the next step is for the college and the ACCT to actively recruit potential applicants until Jan. 20, 2011. From here, the search committee will then take the next couple weeks to review and rate each application independently and narrow it down to six to eight for interviews.
