Bill Garrett re-elected president of Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District board

Bill Garrett will serve another term as president of the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District board, making him the longest-serving president in the district’s history.

Trustees opted to give Garrett the board’s top post again after it swore in two new members — Edwin Heil and Debbie Justeson. The upcoming term will be Garrett’s fourth as the board’s leader.

The decision comes during a tumultuous budget season and Garrett said the vote likely stemmed from trustees’ concerns that changes in leadership could make the process even more difficult.
