Felicito (Chito) Cajayon has been named Vice Chancellor for Economic and Workforce Development for the Los Angeles Community College District.
As Vice Chancellor for Economic and Workforce Development, Cajayon will oversee efforts to develop and improve career and technical education programs for the 250,000 students served by the LACCD. He will seek to expand local, state and federal funding sources, and advance regional partnerships so that the District can continue to be a leader in the workforce and economic development arena.
“I would like to help the LACCD develop the next generation of workforce development solutions. Such efforts will help to enhance the community college system and expand access to higher education for a growing number of college students,” said Cajayon, 45. “I’m also looking forward to increasing the number of workforce development training strategies and career and technical education programs that the District can provide to students at our nine colleges. These are especially important to many people who need to update their skills to become better prepared for the trends in business and industry.”
Cajayon, who assumes the vice chancellor’s post on January 14, has been the LACCD’s Dean of Resource and Economic Development since 2008.
