Gadsden State Community College presidential opening draws 42 applicants

The vacant Gadsden State Community College president’s position has drawn 42 applicants from across the United States, and more are possible.

Friday was the postmark deadline for applications, but more may come in next week when the mail runs after Monday’s holiday, two-year college officials said.

Applicants include former GSCC interim President Valerie Richardson, GSCC business dean Jim Prucnal, former state Rep. Ralph Burke and GSCC assistant to the dean Susan Brown.

The state board of education on Thursday will consider approving GSCC presidential search committee nominees. Candidate interviews and winnowing the number of candidates are scheduled in March and April.
