Contra Costa Community College District accepting applications to fill vacant seat on its governing board

The Contra Costa Community College District is accepting applications from East Contra Costa residents to fill a vacant seat on its governing board.

The district is looking to appoint a trustee to replace Jess Reyes, who died last month because of pneumonia at age 81.

Reyes represented Ward V, which includes Pittsburg, Antioch, Bay Point, Bethel Island, Brentwood, Knightsen, and Oakley.

The appointed person will serve out the remainder of Reyes' term, which ends in November 2012.

The governing board decided this week it was too expensive to hold a special election, according to a district news release.
