A longtime employee of the Eastern Iowa Community College District is one of three finalists to lead the district as its new chancellor.
The finalists are Don Doucette, senior vice president and provost of Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana; Ann Valentine, president of Minnesota State Community and Technical College; and Karen Vickers,
president of Clinton Community College and vice chancellor for student development for the district.
Current Chancellor Pat Keir has announced she will retire in August after serving as the district’s chancellor since 2004.
The finalists were announced after the district’s board of trustees met in closed session Thursday.
Board president Robert Gallagher, who also served on the district’s search committee, said Monday the district had 31 applicants for the job and narrowed the field from nine to the final three after conducting interviews with the candidates.
“I think the three that we have are exemplary candidates,” he said.
