Dodge City Community College hired a new foundation director during a special trustee meeting Monday.
The college’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hire Roger Proffitt to fill the foundation director’s position, which was created at the last trustee meeting.
“I was very impressed with him. He raised about one million dollars for the hospital in Coffeyville,” DCCC interim president Don Woodburn said in a news release Monday. “I think he is a very good fit for us ... he is a western Kansan and I recommend him.”
DCCC hired Proffitt for a one-year contract at $7,000 a month, with an incentive for a $10,000 bonus per $250,000 raised for the college, director of marketing and public information Rick Druse said in a phone call Monday.
DCCC’s legal representation is still finalizing the contract.
As part of his fundraising, Proffitt will sell the tax credits that DCCC has available.
“We have tax credits available to us that we have as a community college to raise money for deferred maintenance projects,” Druse said. “We have, probably, at least $200,000 worth of tax credits that we didn’t sell. So that’s going to be one of his deals.”
