The Tennessee Board of Regents has narrowed its list of candidates to be the next president of Pellissippi State Community College to 11 people, including one internal candidate and four current or former administrators of other Tennessee colleges.
The list will be whittled down on March 30 to three to five candidates who will visit the campus the week of April 11 for interviews and forums with the search committee, faculty, staff and students.
From the original pool of 42 candidates who applied to replace Dr. Allen Edwards, who is retiring this summer, the 11 finalists are all current or former administrators at community colleges and small colleges.
Applicants include Anthony Wise, the top academic officer at Pellissippi State, who "a number of faculty are very supportive of," said Mark Fuentes, Faculty Senate president at Pellissippi and a search committee member.
The list also includes Robert Acuff, assistant vice president for government relations at East Tennessee State University; James Barrott, vice president for technology at Chattanooga State Technical Community College; Stephen Condon, former president of Tennessee Wesleyan College; and Suzanne Hine, vice president for academic affairs at Tennessee Wesleyan.
