Middlesex Community College has selected a new president, the Board of Trustees announced this week.
Dr. Anna M. Wasescha, who has held a variety of positions at universities and colleges in Minnesota, will start at Middlesex in July.
Wasescha succeeds Dr. Wilfredo Nieves, who left last year to be president at Capital Community College in Hartford. Since Nieves left, former president Dr. Jonathan Daube has been filling in at Middlesex.
Wasescha is currently Special Assistant to the President of the Minnesota State Community and Technical College System in Fergus Falls. Before that, she was Provost at the system’s Fergus Falls campus, where she was responsible for all academic programs, student life, campus buildings, community engagement and program development.
Wasescha has also held positions at Walden University, directing online doctorate programs, and was also a faculty member at Concordia University in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Wasescha has a B.A. in English literature, an M.A. in higher education, and a Ph.D. in educational policy and administration, all from the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis, Cox said.
