President Jim Drake will retire as president of Brevard Community College in December

Florida Today October 17, 2011
Brevard Community College is seeking a new president after Jim Drake announced his plans to retire Monday.

Drake, 67, gave notice on his fifth anniversary as BCC president. Earlier this year, Drake requested a paid leave of absence in the spring to finish a book — instead, he decided to retire. His salary is $290,000.

“In re-assessing my earlier thought of taking a sabbatical, I felt this best met my needs. It’s the right time to retire,” Drake said in a press release from BCC. In an email to faculty and staff, Drake said he plans on working until the end of December, through fall term commencements.
