El Paso Community College officials aim to have a new school president by early July 2012.
Board of Trustees President Art Fierro said Friday that the board wants to find someone by then to replace former President Richard Rhodes, who left in September for a similar position at Austin Community College.
"It's an aggressive time frame," Fierro said. "It was the board's feeling that was a good time to have the new president start, since it coincides with the beginning of the new school year."
Fierro is the chairman of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee, which will evaluate job applicants and present recommendations to the Board of Trustees, which will make the final decision on the new president.
The college has not begun accepting applications for president, Fierro said.
Ernst Roberts, EPCC's vice president for administration and financial operations, began serving as interim president on Sept. 1 in the midst of the college's effort to prepare for reaccreditation.
The 21-member advisory committee will include two other trustees, five EPCC staff members, a student, 10 people from the El Paso business community and two people who work locally in public or higher education.
Orientation for the committee is scheduled for Dec. 6.
