The next chancellor for South Louisiana Community College will be selected from a pool of eight applicants, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System announced Tuesday.

A timeline for interviews and final selection hasn’t been set yet, but college President Joe May could recommend a new leader as early as the board’s Dec. 14 meeting, said Kizzy Payton, the college’s director of public information, in an email response.

May will interview the applicants to select who will move on for another round of interviews with a search committee, Payton said.

A search committee that includes community members, business leaders and the college’s faculty and staff members will be named within the next two weeks, she said.

The finalists’ interview process includes visits to the college campus and a series of public forums, Payton said.
