Ivy Tech Community College acquires more land, eyes future expansion

The former Indiana State Police post property at U.S. 41 and Jessica Drive will soon belong to Ivy Tech Community College.

The State of Indiana is in the final steps of transferring the property title to Ivy Tech, said Jeff Terp, statewide vice president for program analysis and engagement.

He anticipates the transfer will be completed sometime after Jan. 1. Because it is a transfer of state property, no cost is involved.

In November, local officials indicated Ivy Tech was interested in the site. “Because the property is adjacent to ours, we feel it’s a very good strategic move for our long-term priorities down the road,” John Adkins, executive director of administration at Ivy Tech-Terre Haute, said at the time.

The Terre Haute campus has had dramatic growth in recent years and it is “very tight on space,” Adkins had said.
