Brookdale Community College president Peter Burnham's benefits and bonus package draws heavy criticism

News about the generous benefits and bonus package for the Brookdale Community College president has sparked public outrage, according to one Monmouth County official, and gained the attention of Gov. Chris Christie.
Monmouth County Freeholder John P. Curley said Friday that residents had been calling his office all day, thanking him for exposing the perquisites that accompany Brookdale President Peter F. Burnham's $216,000 annual base salary.
Curley recently learned that Burnham was receiving a country club membership, tuition reimbursement for his children to attend private colleges, performance bonuses and travel expenses for him and his wife at a time when the college's board of trustees was planning an 8.2 percent tuition hike.
