The Washington Post
Community college students in California will link hands across hundreds of miles Sunday during an event designed to raise funds for scholarships.

The human chain will start at Sierra College in Rocklin and extend south to San Diego, passing through most community college campuses in the state. About a million people are expected to participate in the event called "Hands Across California," according to the Foundation for California Community Colleges.

The foundation is trying to raise $100 million for an endowment that would be devoted to providing scholarships for community college students.
