Joliet Junior College will name new $70 million campus center after late college president Gena Proulx

The new $70 million Campus Center building at Joliet Junior College will be named after late college President Gena Proulx, who championed the center as a gateway to the campus.

"Thanks to Gena Proulx, our ship is on course and we are at full speed," current President Frank Zeller told a crowd last week at the dedication of the building, which opened this summer.

Proulx, 66, died in August after a three-year battle with fallopian tube cancer. She is credited with spearheading the college's $190 million master plan, which includes the Campus Center, and overseeing seven major construction projects during her six-year tenure at the college.
