Solano Community College in California considers redrawing districts to reflect new demographics
Solano Community College electoral boundaries could change in the coming months due to fluctuations in numbers revealed in the latest Census count.
Public input will be sought as the college undertakes a months-long study of its seven trustee districts.
"Because of the Census we need to look at how the district is sectioned off in terms of representation," Solano Community College President Jowel Laguerre said.
"We're looking at population shifts and we need to make sure the different districts are as equal in numbers as possible," Laguerre said.
A special presentation on redistricting and a chance for the public to comment on new boundaries will be held at the board's regular meeting Wednesday night at the Vacaville Center.
During the meeting college officials and consultants will present two recommendations on how the lines can be redrawn to better reflect the county's population.
