Hank Dunn makes these points when the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College president talks about a proposed sales tax increase:

A-B Tech offers training for seven of the top 10 jobs in Western North Carolina. Some classes have become popular to the point that they have waiting lists.

With unemployment hovering around 8 percent, it’s an argument he hopes will resonate with voters.

There are other reasons Buncombe County residents should vote in favor of the quarter-cent sales tax increase, Dunn says, making his case as a Tuesday referendum on the proposal looms.

The sales tax increase would amount to 25 cents on a $100 purchase.

It would raise $130 million over 17 years for building projects, including new facilities for expanded programs.
