Hostos Community College president Felix Matos Rodriguez

The vibrant Puerto Rican Day Parade will return to Fifth Ave. next month with the president of Hostos Community College leading the festivities.

Felix Matos Rodriguez was named grand marshal of the parade Tuesday to complement this year’s theme, which celebrates Puerto Ricans and their higher education achievements.

“It’s really an honor bestowed on the college as a whole,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez grew up in Puerto Rico and graduated cum laude in Latin American studies from Yale before earning a Ph.D. in history from Columbia University.
