Napa Valley College President Edna Baehre-Kolovani The Napa Valley College Board of Trustees accepted a recommendation Wednesday to search for an external candidate to serve as interim college president.
Current president Edna Baehre-Kolovani is leaving the college this summer to serve as president of Tidewater Community College in Maryland. Her resignation is effective July 15.
A special subcommittee — composed of board members Bill Blair, JoAnn Busenbark and Bruce Ketron — was formed to come up with recommendations for the presidential search process.
Busenbark said the input provided by college staff, faculty members and student government leaders help to shape the subcommittee’s decision. Leaders from five college constituent groups all supported hiring an outsider to serve as president.
The next step for the Board of Trustees will be to hire a recruiting firm to help search for candidates. Two firms — Professional Personnel Leasing and Community College Search Services — made presentations to the board during Wednesday’s meeting. Busenbark said the board will have a special meeting within the next 10 days to decide which firm to hire.
