Jarvis Harris, new board of trustees chairman at Guilford Technical CC
Jarvis Harris, an attorney with the Greensboro firm of R. Steve Bowden & Associates, has been named chairman of the board of trustees at Guilford Technical Community College, according to an announcement.
Harris, who succeeds outgoing chairman Coy Williard Jr. of High Point, is both the youngest board chair in GTCC's history at the age of 41 and the first African-American to hold the position, the college said.
Harris is also the immediate past chair of the Guilford Education Alliance and also owner of J. Harris Photography and Design, as well as a coach at the Spears Family YMCA among other community activities. He was first appointed as a GTCC trustee in 2003.
Also, Susan Alt, senior vice president of public affairs at Volvo Group North America, was named vice chairwoman of the board. She has been a trustee since 2007.
