Alan Roberts named president of Ulster County Community College in New York
New Ulster County Community College president Alan Roberts Alan Roberts will take over as president of Ulster County Community College, the school's board of trustees said via news release.
Roberts, who is currently vice president of applied science and technology at a Florida college, will be SUNY Ulster's sixth president, with a starting salary of $175,000 per year.
He starts July 27; current President Donald Katt retires in August after 15 years on the job.
“I am looking forward to building on the college’s strong foundation and to engage with students, faculty, staff and the community to focus on student success," Roberts said. "I will also work with community, business and government leaders to ensure that the college continues to meet the personal, educational and workforce needs of the citizens of Ulster County."
Roberts has been with Florida-based Indian River State College in various roles for 24 years, according to the news release. His accomplishments include establishing the Power Plant Technology Institute, securing a $2.9 million National Science Foundation grant to establish a Laser and Fiber Optics Regional Center, and constructing a $40 million public safety complex, among other things.
