Kalamazoo Valley Community College president Marilyn Schlack Marilyn Schlack, who today announced plans to retire as Kalamazoo Valley Community College president, has been one of Kalamazoo's foremost leaders on education for more than three decades.
Her influence has extended far beyond higher education, though, serving as a key leader on economic development, job creation and community development.
"Marilyn is our number one community leader in Kalamazoo County," said Blaine Lam of public relations firm Lam & Associates. "I say it without any equivocation, any hedge."
Schlack, 81, submitted a letter on Tuesday, Sept. 12, to the KVCC Board of Trustees, announcing her plans to retire. She came to KVCC in 1974 and became president in October 1982.
