Riverside Community College District receives its largest private gift ever, $5 million from construction magnate Henry Coil
Riverside construction magnate Henry W. Coil Jr. is donating $5 million to the Riverside Community College District to fund programs at a new school for the arts that will be named in honor of Coil's parents.
It is by far the largest private gift in the district's history.
It was a banner week for the district, which has received more than $10 million in grants and donations over the past two days.
The $60 million Henry W. and Alice Edna Coil School for the Arts, tentatively scheduled to open by 2014 at University Avenue and Market Street, is one of three major RCCD projects planned for the downtown intersection.
