Gadsden State Community College president Darryl Harrison resigns abruptly, interim to be named Friday

W. Darryl Harrison, president of Gadsden State Community College, announced Tuesday he is resigning from the college.
In an e-mail sent to GSCC employees Tuesday afternoon, Harrison said he tendered his resignation for family reasons.
“I have appreciated your support, your prayers and your hard work during my tenure here and am confident that you will do the same for your next president,” Harrison said in the e-mail. “I wish to thank the Chancellor, the Alabama State Board of Education and the faculty, staff and students of Gadsden State Community College for having the opportunity to serve this outstanding institution.”
According to the e-mail statement, Harrison’s last official day will be Friday. He began work in Gadsden in January 2009.
