|The Connecticut Community College trustees held a preliminary discussion Tuesday of a possible tuition increase of 2.5 percent increase for the next academic year and 2.3 percent for the following year.
However, the trustees aren't expected to make a decision on a tuition increase until the board's meeting next month.
Vicky Greene, chief financial and administrative officer for the community college system, told the board that these increases would be in keeping with its effort to make "incremental" tuition increases, which she said makes it easier for colleges and students to budget.
"Our thinking is that we look to regular modest increases," Greene told the board. "In the past there have been a few times when we went into the budget cycle where we tried to do no increases, and then a couple years down the road it came back to bite us because we've had some really horrendously large increases."
