Job Summary

Under general supervision, teach various Diesel Systems Technology courses which will lead students to acquire specific skills, and certificate of completion, and or Associates of Applied Science (AAS)

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Effectively prepare and teach classes to facilitate student learning.

2. Teaches courses consistent with department procedures, appropriate Course Curriculum Outline (CCO) and catalog description.

3. Teaches assigned classes at the scheduled time and place and meets during required contact hours.

4. Promotes development of critical thinking among students.

5. Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards.

6. Maintains and posts teaching schedule. Maintains significant campus presence to respond to instruction and daily needs of students, departments, college and community.

7. Meets with students outside of class—a minimum of 5 hours/week in person or on‐line.

8. Responds to voicemail and email communication promptly (generally within 1‐2 contract days).

9. Meets all deadlines.

10. Promotes support for the mission, vision, values and goals of the College by incorporating culturally‐ competent pedagogy and inclusivity practices

11. Assess student performance and maintain student records.

12. Develop, distribute, and adhere to current course outlines and/or syllabi.

13. Participate in curriculum development and/or course requirements.

14. Advise students on program and/or course requirements.

15. Demonstrate and support professional commitment to Division, School, and College mission and values.

16. Demonstrate and support professional commitment to Diesel Systems Technology.

17. Maintain currency in the theory and practice of Diesel Systems Technology.

18. Support and follow College policies and procedures.

19. Coordinates student ADA Accommodation requests following College policy and procedures.

20. Completes all required training and attend Faculty Orientation

21. Engages in local, state, and/or national professional organizations appropriate to the faculty role.

22.Serves community partners as content area experts when needed.

23.Completes required training and participates in professional development.

24. Provides service to the institution through appropriate participation in academic and campus committee assignments; offers adequate service on at least one department, school, or college‐wide committee.

25. Promotes, models and exhibits the College Values with colleagues, students and community stakeholders.

26. Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines and other pertinent federal regulations.

27. Assists in maintaining a safe and secure campus environment.

28. Maintains inventory, if appropriate, of equipment, tools, supplies and storage/disposal of hazardous materials required for classes, and request appropriate equipment repair.

29. Actively participates in the informed budget process.

30. Identifies budgetary needs and priorities within the program as applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Diesel Systems Technology or related field from and accredited College or University.

4. Two (2) years of post-secondary teaching experience in Diesel Systems Technology or a related field.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Eight (8) full-time years of paid Heavy Duty Diesel Systems Experience.

OR

2. Six (6) full-time years of paid diesel work experience and Associate of Applied (AAS) degree.

OR

3. Four (4) full-time years of paid diesel work experience and Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Degree must be in related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
