Overview
Utah State University (USU) invites nominations and applications for a significant leadership position as Associate Vice President & Chief Campus Administrator of Utah State University Eastern Comprehensive Regional College (USUE). Located in Price, Utah, the Utah State University Eastern is a residential campus within the statewide system of Utah State University. Utah State University is a Carnegie doctoral 'high research' institution, and Utah's land-grant and space-grant University. Founded in 1888, USU is the oldest and largest public residential campus in Utah. The university enrolls approximately 17,000 students at its main campus in Logan, including 2,600 graduate students. Another 11,000 students enroll in USU courses available at 30 statewide locations, international programs, and through online offerings. Utah State University is one of the top twenty land-grant universities in the nation in the receipt of federal research funding, and overall research funding in the last fiscal year exceeded $335 million.

The Associate Vice President of USUE reports directly to the Vice President of Statewide Campuses of Utah State University and is a member of the Statewide Campus Administrative Council. The ideal candidate will possess administrative experience commensurate with the executive responsibilities associated with a free-standing residential campus, including an NJCAA governed athletics program. The selected individual will be capable of supporting innovative and diverse educational delivery methods; be knowledgeable about a wide range of academic disciplines; and be able to build on the strong community support system that exists. The Associate Vice President will be expected to foster new partnerships throughout the region; to appreciate, value, and promote a diverse student and faculty community; and to demonstrate an appreciation for and commitment to the land-grant mission of the University. We are seeking candidates with excellent communication skills and a passion and ability to inspire achievement in others.

The incumbent will provide leadership for staff and students; promote the innovative growth of teaching, research, and supportive infrastructure; enhance and extend university and community collaboration, value the importance of alumni relations and promote advancement and fund-raising. It is imperative that the Associate Vice President have the skills to represent the needs of the regional campus effectively to many constituencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dynamic administrative and intellectual leadership for the USU Eastern Comprehensive Regional College
  • Articulate and pursue a vision for a twenty-first century regional university campus
  • Facilitate faculty interactions between the regional campus and academic departments
  • Build strong working partnerships within the university and surrounding community
  • Effectively represent the needs of the USUE to the university
  • Maintain a close working relationship with USUE faculty and staff to foster collegiality at all levels
  • Secure resources for the USUE through development and fund-raising activities
  • Promote and facilitate expansion of research and educational programming at USUE
  • Work effectively with advisory councils, and productively engage the student body and the alumni association
  • Serve with a collegial team of fellow Associate Vice Presidents



Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned master's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant discipline
  • Record of executive responsibilities in higher education or similar environment
  • Commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Administrative experience in a Carnegie doctoral "high research" regional campus system
  • Record of distinguished leadership and accomplishments in distance education settings associated with a free-standing university campus
  • Experience in the development of collaborative partnerships and programs with other campus units, school districts, the community, and neighboring institutions
  • Demonstrated ability to secure external funding through contracts and grants
  • Experience in securing private and foundation gifts
  • Experience working with non-traditional students and an understanding of the distinctive nature of educational programs that serve their needs
  • Earned doctorate degree from an accredited institution in a relevant discipline
