JOB SUMMARY:

The Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM) will bring strategy, vision, and creativity to college-wide enrollment at Simmons. The VPEM is responsible for developing the strategic enrollment management plan developed in collaboration with the leadership of the college, key internal and external stakeholders, utilizing relevant methodologies such as environmental scanning, analysis of enrollment and retention trends and other institutional data. The plan will serve to guide actions of the institution related to recruitment, retention and graduation by identifying goals, setting priorities, recommending strategies, identifying key benchmarks, and achievement of desired outcomes. As a leader, the VPEM is expected to work in coordination with other campus units in the development and implementation of the strategies to increase new student enrollment in each student segment. The VPEM will come to Simmons during an important point in its history, joining new leadership that is particularly driven and ambitious. Enrollment will mirror this momentum and drive, and the VPEM will provide transformational leadership for recruitment, admissions, scholarships, student accounts, student financial aid, and military and veteran resources. A forward-thinking plan for enrollment will include cutting-edge technology, the best use of data, and exceptional communication to put forward Simmons' mission and attract more students. The VPEM will demonstrate a commitment to student success, retention and completion, service excellence, innovation, and collaboration. This position reports to the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership and oversight of staff. Coaches, directs, mentors, evaluates, and counsels personnel while adhering to organizational human resource policies and procedures as well as related employment laws.
  • Assumes leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of Simmons strategic enrollment management plan and ensures that it aligns with the college's strategic goal and objectives.
  • Provides direction regarding the employment of effective and evidence-based strategies for the functions of recruitment, retention, community outreach, admissions, student accounts, student financial aid and veterans' affairs.
  • Provides leadership for the implementation of enrollment data systems, analysis and utilization of customer relationship management software.
  • Establishes, implements, and monitors program evaluation systems for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Coordinates enrollment management activities, functions and operations with instructional and student services areas of the college.
  • Uses an analytical, empirical, and data-informed approach to problem solving and decision-making and promotes a culture of evidence in enrollment management and student success.
  • Represents Simmons in the community collaborating with school districts, businesses, community organizations and other stakeholders.
  • Chairs as well as participates in committees, shared, and non-shared governance meetings. Assists in the development and administration of budgets for assigned functions and monitors and approves expenditures.
  • Provides leadership for outreach and retention to reflect service area needs.
  • Represents the college on student services policy and coordination issues within the community, college system, and state.
  • Establishes and maintains partnerships and other community relationships that expand the college's ability to serve the community.
  • Monitor's rules from accrediting bodies, state, and federal legislation, and regulations that may impact enrollment.

OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Masters Degree in higher education or related field from an accredited institution required; Terminal degree preferred.

· Minimum of (7) years related work experience, including management, in a higher education environment.

· Experience developing, implementing, and assessing effective strategies supporting recruitment and matriculation for multiple and diverse student populations.

· Experience with strategic planning, data-informed decision making, and program evaluation.

· Experience fostering strong partnerships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

· Demonstrate superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Detail oriented and ability to meet deadlines.

· Ability to work in and lead a team environment.

· Ability to work effectively and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The incumbent must possess specific areas of knowledge, skill, and ability to be able to explain and/or demonstrate an ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some combination of skills and abilities. Furthermore, he/she must conduct such activities in light of the mission and purpose of Simmons College of Kentucky.

  • Must possess knowledge regarding education pipeline and initiatives including, but not limited to college readiness, data sharing, and community outreach.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills inclusive of proving original writing and editing and verbal communication with varying audiences.
  • Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Demonstrate expertise in project planning, development and implementation.
  • Presenting information and summary reports internally and to the public.
  • Understanding of the community college philosophy mission.
  • Handling the demands and requirements of senior-level management in higher education.
  • Effective management and leadership models and techniques, including Servant-Leadership Principles.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Work is normally performed in a typical interior and/or office work environment.

· No or very limited physical effort required.

· No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
