The CCBC Philosophy Program anticipates the need for an individual to prepare and teach introductory courses in Philosophy to first- and second-year students.  Introductory courses include Introduction to Philosophy, Ethics, Critical Thinking, and Introduction to World Religions. Full-time faculty are required to teach 15 credit hours per semester, maintain at least one office hour per week for each course taught, remain active and current in their field, participate in college committees, and perform other duties as assigned.  Additionally, full-time faculty are required to participate with program faculty in developing, evaluating, and managing courses and curricula, and to collaborate effectively with discipline colleagues and with those from other disciplines, and seek continuous improvement in teaching methodology and student success.  Faculty are also encouraged to participate in program coordination and related administrative duties. This position will likely involve teaching at more than one campus. 

Minimum Requirements

Required

Masters degree in Philosophy.


Preferred

Two years teaching and/or experience working with non-traditional and diverse student populations preferred.   Experience serving as program coordinator or involvement in related administrative experience preferred.   Experience utilizing classroom technology and learning management systems preferred. Experience integrating diverse philosophical theories and thinkers into instruction preferred. Experience organizing and moderating student activities preferred. Prior college teaching experience preferred.
