Starting salary for this position is: $3,075 (Monthly)

Employees starting at the entry step of this range receive salary step advancement after six months and every 12 months thereafter. If an employee starting at anything higher than the entry step of the range, will have salary step advancement after 12 months and salary step advancement every 12 months thereafter until they reach the top of the salary range. Each salary step advancement will be approximately a 5% increase in salary.

SFCC is one of two accredited community colleges that comprise the Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS). Serving about 6,000 students, SFCC endeavors to be an educational leader and a responsive partner with the community and region, offering access to relevant programs of the highest quality. We offer a large liberal arts/transfer program (approximately 75% of total enrollment) as well as state-of-the-art professional technical programs (about 25%). In addition to serving the urban and suburban population in greater Spokane, CCS provides educational services to rural communities throughout a 12,302 square mile region in Eastern Washington. This region includes all of Spokane, Stevens, Whitman, Ferry, and Pend Oreille Counties as well as portions of Lincoln County.

The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Concurrent Curriculum Advisor in the SFCC Admission/Registration Division.

JOB SUMMARY

Under general direction of the Director of Admissions & Registration, this position will assist prospective students in applying for a program of study designed to achieve their academic goals, including processing admissions applications and evaluating student information to determine eligibility for admissions. This position will perform admissions and registration functions such as preparing documents and correspondence, entering student information into the college's database, troubleshooting and resolving student registration issues and responding to inquiries.

This position requires exercising independent judgment to make decisions while remaining compliant with rules and regulations when independently informing students, staff, and the public regarding course offerings, program and class pre-requisites, policies, procedures and activities, as well as selecting and recommending alternative courses of action. This position will assist other student affairs departments, as needed.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist students at the admissions/registration counter. Provide information regarding admissions requirements, general program information, enrollment process, course offerings and general campus resources to support student success. *
  • Answer telephone, customer relationship management system (CRM) inquiries, and email correspondence regarding entrance requirements and processes and program/college information. *
  • Process and update online admissions applications in PeopleSoft student management system on an ongoing basis. Electronically file associated documents into college halFILE database. Assist in the development, preparation, and updating of admission materials and the ongoing maintenance of the application processing workflow.
  • Evaluate and maintain accurate residency status for students based on application materials. Refer students to residency status reclassification process or Residency Officer, as necessary. *
  • Input student interactions into the customer relationship management system. *
  • Process registration requests and provide information to students on registration processes. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with student registration as needed. *
  • Answer questions, research and problem solve student, staff and public inquiries and inform students of campus services available to them. *
  • Support new student onboarding processes, registration events and other activities to register new and current students. *
  • Maintain related databases to process work. Provide information and statistics on related processes as requested. *
  • May instruct and check the work of work-study students. *
  • Act as backup to other Curriculum Advisors and assist in other areas of Admissions & Registration as needed. *
  • May attend work events and other Student Affairs meetings at on-and off-campus locations during regular work hours, *
  • Participate in annual commencement preparations and work the ceremony. *
  • Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions. *
  • Comply with district policies, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statutes and collective bargaining agreements. *
  • Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned. *
  • Indicates this is an essential duty.

This position is designated a bargaining unit position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree. Or an equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates the candidate meets all competency requirements for this position.
  • One or more years of admissions, registration, or related office experience.
  • Experience using a student management system (PeopleSoft).
  • Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Experience with admissions and registration requirements and procedures.

CONDITIONS/TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

TOTAL COMPENSATION WITH BENEFITS: $51,641 - $64,731 .

Total compensation is an estimate based upon adding the following amounts together:

  • Base compensation of $36,072 - $47,688, plus
  • Current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates, plus

  • Median retirement fund contributions.

The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment choices.

Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. An offer of employment will not carry with it any responsibility or obligation on the part of the District to sponsor an H1-B visa. In addition, the Community Colleges of Spokane maintains a drug-free work environment and prohibits all smoking in the college buildings and state-owned vehicles.
