MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduating seniors from an accredited 4-year institution. The candidate at the time of employment must actively be working towards degree completion while employed. Degree must be conferred, and final official transcript must be submitted within 1 year of hire date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors or masters Degree from an accredited institution. Has the ability to advise and coach in a higher education environment. On-the-job training will be provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Career and CTE Success Coach will report to the Dean of Business Technologies & Public Service. The Career and Technical (CTE) Success Coach is responsible for providing coaching and intervention techniques to an assigned caseload of Career and Technical students. The Success Coach will ensure students access to programs, services, and resources and will monitor students' progress using the college's retention and advising software. The Coach will also focus on aligning students' career goals and educational abilities with appropriate CTE pathways, identifying at-risk students, and responding to faculty alerts related to any CTE student. Additional responsibilities include empowering advisees to effectively communicate with faculty and student services and to develop self-advocacy skills; connecting advisees to resources and support services such as financial aid, career services, and disability services; regularly attending assigned divisional meetings; and remaining current with divisional and college policies and procedures.

COMPETENCIES:

Ability to multitask, problem solve, work independently, utilize good judgment, and perform detailed tasks accurately. Willingness to accommodate requests for support outside of regular business hours on occasion, with appropriate notice. Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team. Ability to understand and communicate with students in both academic and personal-social domains. Working knowledge of advising/counseling theories and techniques. Adaptability, initiative, and flexibility. Attention to detail and accuracy. Customer service orientation and interpersonal skills. Enthusiasm for working with internal and external constituents. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work. Punctual and speaks fluently, sensitively, and persuasively when interacting with stakeholders. Ability to maintain confidentiality in working with students and their records. Supports the aims, objectives, goals, and mission of the college.

SALARY:

The position is part-time and contingent on the annual allocation of grant funds from the Perkins V Local Basic Grant. The intention is to achieve outcomes that will allow the college to sustain its position beyond the grant period.
