Essential Job Duties

Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Financial Aid Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the NC State Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, and ensure athletic financial aid is awarded in accordance with Federal, State, NCAA, ACC, NC State, and other applicable rules and regulations.
  • Collect, review, and report data on a wide variety of financial aid responsibilities including, but not limited to: entering awards from academic year workflows and summer financial aid spreadsheets; assisting in the university audit of financial aid; monitoring scholarship equivalencies for the academic year; monitoring outstanding balances owed by student-athletes; ensuring students do not exceed their cost of attendance; and related financial aid adjustments.
  • Help estimate the amount of institutional financial aid a prospect should expect to receive from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, and assist current student-athletes in resolving financial aid application, billing, disbursement, and/or refund issues, as requested.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, and the Cashiers Office.
  • Assist the Academic Support and Business Office staff to determine who can or cannot receive Academic Incentive funds due to Federal Financial Aid constraints, and enter those awards into students accounts for disbursement.

Compliance Liaison Responsibilities:
  • Support and serve as the primary athletics compliance liaison for several teams and athletics staff for all NCAA and ACC bylaws.
  • Provide comprehensive rules education, interpretations, monitoring, waiver support, and investigate/ report secondary violations for these teams.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelors degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership and counseling skills
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree
  • Experience at an NCAA Division I institution and/or with intercollegiate athletics
  • Experience with NCAA and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) financial aid regulations
  • Experience with Compliance Assistant and ARMS software
