International Admissions Specialist

 


SALARY:
 $3,645.43/month ($21/hour) (prorated to a 16 hour per week schedule)

 


LOCATION:
 Lynnwood, Washington

 


DESCRIPTION
:

The part-time International Admissions Specialist is often the first person a new student connects with when applying to the college. The person in this role is responsible for supporting the Associate Director of Admissions with receiving, reviewing, processing and recording all admissions documents. This role serves the college as a SEVIS Designated School Official (DSO). The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to maintain focus and attention to detail while performing routine responsibilities efficiently.

This is currently a term-limited position for six months, with the possibility of extension after six months. This position can work fully remote or in-person. Position is on call and hours will fluctuate each week based on office needs. We anticipate providing between 10-16 hours of work each week.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide a professional and friendly introduction to the college to students who are applying
  • Review and monitor the progress of student applications
  • Communicate with agents and potential students via phone and email regarding their applications
  • Meet with potential students and their families, provide them accurate information about the college and assist them with completing their applications
  • Create ctclink ID numbers for new applications
  • Enter application information into the SEVIS database
  • Enter changes to student records into SEVIS
  • Follow up with incomplete applications
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

 


This is an exempt position that reports to the Associate Director for the Office of International Programs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • English proficiency
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Experience working in an office setting
  • High level computer skills, including Word, Excel, Google Drive, email
  • Demonstrated capacity to quickly grasp and navigate technologies
  • Ability to work effectively and sensitively with culturally and ethnically diverse populations
  • Proficiency in handling repetitive tasks with precision and consistency
  • Must be a US citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident, per federal regulations for SEVIS Designated School Officials

 


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree OR higher
  • Experience working with ctcLink, Sunapsis, or as a SEVIS Designated School Official (DSO)
  • Ability to read and speak a second language
  • Experience living or studying abroad

 


PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in an office setting, and onsite/in-person. The ability to sit at a desk/computer station, bend, stoop, walk and generally move around the office to consult with others, work within a busy environment and remain focused on tasks. Inventory management requires some lifting and moving of objects up to 30lbs. Excellent communication skills are essential. This includes the ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English and will include communication with people for whom English is not their first language. This also includes the ability to produce clearly written documents. Those who are multilingual are strongly encouraged to apply.

 


COMPENSATION:

Salary is $3,645.43/month ($21/hour) (prorated to a 16 hour per week schedule) and is based on the Edmonds CC administrative/exempt salary schedule. This temporary position is not eligible for benefits.

 


WORK SCHEDULE:

OIPs operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., including some evenings and weekends. The person in this role needs to be available during that time frame for training and occasional meetings. After the initial training period, there is room for a flexible arrangement regarding scheduling hours outside of regular office hours. Position is for 6 months with a possibility of extension (18-months max).

 


FLSA Status:

The position is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act requirements.

 


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.
  • Criminal background checkPrior to a new hire, a background check including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicants suitability and competence to perform in the position.
