Under the supervision of the coordinator for part time ESL, the part-time ESL instructor will provide English language lessons to non-native adult speakers from different backgrounds and cultures. The ESL instructor will be responsible for planning lessons with diverse activities that cover all aspects of the English language (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) using ESL teaching methodologies. The ESL instructor will create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Contextualize relevant content into exercises and lessons to bolster the acquisition of English Language speaking, listening, writing, reading, and digital literacy skills.
• Plan, manage, and direct the classroom curriculum and learning environment for students; monitor student attendance weekly.
• Evaluate students' interpersonal skills, technical skills, and knowledge base in the classroom and clinical settings at regular intervals to measure student performance.
• Responsible for efficient and effective use of supplies and equipment.
• Complete and submit course records, grades, completion status, and reports on time.
• Select and develop appropriate textbooks and materials.
• Establish a welcoming, respectful learning environment that fosters active student participation and a high-expectations culture.
• Submit written unit and lesson plans as required.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Masters degree in TESOL is preferred
• Three or more years of experience working with adult ESL learners preferred
• Knowledge of ESL teaching methodology
• Strong English language proficiency
• Great communication skills
• Ability to work nights and weekends
• Basic computer literacy

The candidate must be able to teach in person on the KCC campus

Appointment is as a Continuing Education Instructor.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6 – 12 per week
