GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

Instruct courses in radiologic technology. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: student advising, maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, participating in mentor-mentee program, promoting and supporting extra-curricular activities, participating in professional development, and working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills. Faculty are expected to accept courses as assigned which could include non-traditional venues, such as evening, weekend, dual credit, and/or online courses, and must be able to travel to clinical facilities and be flexible to teach as needed. This position reports to the Program Director of Radiologic Technology and exercises no supervision.

NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Attach a brief statement addressing how you acquired each of the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities through your education, personal experience or previous employment.

Knowledge of: 1. Instructional materials and equipment needed for all program courses. 2. Process to prepare class schedules. 3. Instructional support/materials needed in the library and for distance learning courses. 4. Trends in teaching/learning theory as it applies to Radiologic Technology. 5. Curriculum revision and proposals. 6. Accreditation requirements to maintain standards and requirements of external accreditation agencies. Ability to: 7. Represent interests, needs, and perceptions of the program. 8. Develop curriculum. 9. Assist in the implementation of faculty evaluation and development. 10. Perform tasks described in the student advisement policy. 11. Maintain custody of College property, and notify program director in case of loss, damage, or malfunction. 12. Inform program director of developments in program disciplines. 13. Promote and facilitate community awareness of programs and activities. 14. Maintain relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including local schools, businesses and other agencies. 15. Support and participate in activities of College. 16. Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. 17. Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips. e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Graduate of an accredited radiography program and a Bachelors Degree in Education, Health, or related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five years paid work experience in radiologic technology.

Special Requirement: Must hold and maintain ARRT certification or equivalent and active registration in Radiography. Must be licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) in Texas or eligible for licensure.

 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in related field.

Experience: Registered in one or more specialized imaging modalities. Experience as an educator with knowledge of curriculum development, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.
